From the Canterbury DHB Angela Deken Universal Newborn Hearing Screening and Early Intervention Programme Co-ordinator, Christchurch Women’s Hospital and Virginia Good Audiologist, Audiology Department, Christchurch Public Hospital.
- Angela presented the history of where hearing screening has come from, how it is done and which babies in particular need further follow up with audiology. Angela also discussed the documentation of screening which ensures all associated health professionals know where to look for hearing screening outcomes.

- Virginia along with her collegues John and Mary presented their role as Audiologists and The Hearing Aid Service offering services to children with hearing impairment providing hearing assessments, hearing habilitation/rehabilitation, counselling, and liaison and co-operative working with other related professionals.

Canterbury Webhealth was launched in June 2008. Webhealth exists to assist whānau to find health and social services in an easy and timely manner. Webhealth is a not-for-profit organisation, established to facilitate trusted linkages between individuals, providers and communities that contribute to positive health and wellbeing outcomes for the community. Julie Noster, Linkage Webhealth Representative presented Webhealth and her role.

Adele Webb joined us from the Epilepsy NZ to explain her role and presented two case studies about the impact of epilepsy and the different outcomes for two young Māori boys in Christchurch as a result of intervention.

This month we profile Te Awa o Te Ora Trust, provide Kaupapa Māori wrap around health services to people aged 18-60 years who have experience of mental illness.
