This 1-day event is a time to celebrate family values and kinship in a fun atmosphere of friendly competition, healthy lifestyle and in a Marae environment.

 

Kaupapa of Māori Sports Festival:

• Celebrate being Whanau
• Strengthen our whanaungatanga as Maori
• Provide a positive and novel opportunity for whanau to interact within a broader Whanau context
• Create a fun, relaxed and safe environment for whanau to play together
• Promote healthy life style practices
• Increase whanau participation in sports and recreation activities
• To celebrate in a manner in which we celebrates our uniqueness as Whanau while recognising our togetherness

The emphasis is on "participation" with a sense of "competition" and we will be providing some incentives to boost the inter-generational interest and participation.
